Join us in celebrating the orishas Yemaya and Oshun. Yemaya is the power of the ocean, the Mother Of Fishes, the giver of life, and the abundance of the sea. Oshun is the essence of the river, the symbol of all that is sweet in life, fertility and motherhood, and the blood in our veins. In the Lucumi tradition Yemaya’s feast day is September 7th followed by Oshun’s on September 8th, therefore we will be honoring them together.
We’ll be presenting a modest throne and sharing food/refreshments. Guests are welcome to bring offerings to Yemaya and Oshun. Acceptable offerings include:
yellow, blue, or white candles
yellow, blue, or white flowers
fruits such as watermelon, oranges, papaya, apples, coconut, bananas, grapes, pineapple, guava, mango, etc.
honey, molasses
sweets such as cookies, cakes, pastries, etc.
perfume
yellow or blue fabric
seashells
champagne, sweet white wine, red wine
EVENT IS FREE, FAMILY FRIENDLY, AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
